Dreams

I've dreamed many dreams that never came true,

I've seen them vanish at dawn,

But I've realized enough of my dreams thank the Lord,

To make me want to dream on,

I've prayed many prayers when no answer came,

Though I've waited patient and long,

But answers have come to enough of my prayers,

To make me keep praying on,

I've trusted many a friend that failed,

And left me to weep alone,

But I've found enough of my friends that are really true,

That will make me keep trusting on.

I've sown many seeds that have fallen by the way,

For the birds to feed upon,

But I've held enough golden sheaves in my hand,

To make me keep sowing on.

I've drunk from the cup of disappointment and pain,

I've gone many days without song,

But I've sipped enough nectar from the Roses of Life,

To make me keep living on!

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit

Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and its turns,

As everyone of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about

When they might have won, had they stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow,

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,

It seems to a faint and faltering man,

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor's cup;

And he learned too late when the night came down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,

It's when things seem worst that you must not quit!

Opportunity

With doubt and dismay you are smitten

You think there's no chance for you, son?

Why, the best books haven't been written

The best race hasn't been run

The best score hasn't been made yet,

The best song hasn't been sung,

The best tune hasn't been played yet,

Cheer up, for the world is young!

No chance? Why the world is just eager

For things that you ought to create.

It's store of true wealth is still meager

It's needs are incessant and great

It yearns for more power and beauty

More laughter and love and romance,

More loyalty, labor and duty,

No chance--why there's nothing but chance!

For the best verse hasn't been rhymed yet,

The best house hasn't been planned,

The highest peak hasn't been climbed yet,

The mightiest rivers aren't spanned

Don't worry and fret, faint hearted,

The chances have just begun,

For the best jobs haven't been started,

The best work hasn't been done

Never Give Up! Never Give In!

Never give up! Never give in!

Never give way to doubt!

If there's one chance that you can win,

By faith, bring that about!

You're never alone while God looks down,

For He prepares the way!

He has prepared for you a crown

That you will wear one day!

You've spoken prayers and God has heard,

His angels fly above,

For they obey His every word

Who strengthens us with love!

Never give up! Never give in!

The battle is the Lord's!

His Son has conquered death and sin

And grants us His rewards!

So harken well, you child of faith!

Withstand each storm and strife!

For God is able, strong to save

And grants eternal life!

Though lightning strikes, though floods may pour,

Though wars be fought on Earth,

God's love for you grows more and more,

You're priceless, beyond worth!

Never give up! Never give in!

Endure unto the end!

Resist temptation, flee from sin,

Don't compromise or bend!

Be strong as mountains day and night

That stand the test of time,

With God your peace, your joy, your might,

Your destiny sublime...

While there's a sun and put them there!

For He who makes each day to pass,

Hears every single prayer...

Strength for the Race

God gives us the strength to run life's race,

And the stamina needed to keep the pace;

He uses the circumstances we go through

To condition us for what He calls us to do.

He strengthens our hearts, souls and minds,

And lifts sin's weight that so easily binds,

That we might run with honor and grace

Through those difficult obstacles we face.

As we run, He is with us along the way,

Refreshing, and supplying our need each day;

If we focus on Him and never look back,

We'll always be running on the right track.

Across the line - is a crown to be received,

For all we've accomplished and achieved;

We'll accept it gladly when the race is complete,

To lay at our wonderful Trainer's feet.

Praise God! With Christ as our Coach Divine,

We don't have to wait for the finish line;

Hallelujah! The victory already is won,

We can rejoice right now as the race is run.

Father, we thank Thee for Thy saving grace

That imparts to us - Strength for the Race.
